Ever since David posted an entry about a nice bit of foil blocking he'd found I've been meaning to dig this one out. Over the years I've spent a lot of time loitering in second-hand bookshops and have often had to resist to temptation to buy a book simply for it's cover. Needless to say, more often than not that temptation is too great. Like with this Hemingway classic.
Nice. And interesting to see that Hemmingway's name runs up (rather than down) the spine.

Hi there,
Love your blog. The photos are really great, I'd love if it was possible to make the larger images larger again so we could see even more details. :)
Thanks!

David, I subsribe to the "it should look right sitting on a table" rule, i.e. reading down. The other way troubles me.
Kevin, thanks. When you say "larger" do you mean pulled back/less cropped?

Ah, but if you hail from a European country, like Adrian Frutiger for instance, the "looking right sitting on a table" rule would be reading up the spine. Though I doubt that Adrian Frutiger would use those words to explain why.
Think of it, instead, as being like "which side of the road do you drive on?".

Richard, the shots themselves are perfect, I'd just like the dimensions to be bigger.
The large images in the popup window seem to be 470px wide. It'd be nice if they were much larger. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'd love if they were around 600px wide so you could see even more detail.
Thanks!

Kevin, I do take images at a higher resolution but reduce them for Ace Jet so they don't take too long to load but I've been thinking of making more use of Flickr lately and could post larger images there. Shouldn't be much work so when I get the chance I'll give it a whirl.

I think it would be really great if you could. :)
I think people generally are more patient when they're looking at a larger view of a thumbnail, because they specifically want to see it. Plus, I'd say most of your visitors would be on broadband connections.
