Somebody out there once emailed me about this book (see earlier post) and expressed how much they'd like to get hold of a copy. If that's you, drop me an email/leave a comment.
It's a seminal book really and, as I've said somewhere else on Ace Jet, I think there's much to be learned about typography from books on the subject that pre-date the prevailing technology; they deal with the fundamental qualities of good typography - and provide a fascinating insight into earlier processes.
Simon's book was published numerous times, this is the original Faber and Faber hardback version (second edition). A F&F paperback followed a number of years later and there's a very nice Pelican paperback version too. The content is basically the same so if it's just to read you might as well get the latter. Most editions can be bought through abebooks.co.uk (in varied condition) for not very much. If it's the original you're after you might want to make sure you're getting the dust jacket with it.
My copy is an undated hardcover with a Faber and Faber imprint on the dustcover and Harvard University Press on the titlepage.
Priced 3 USD.
Printed in Great Britain.
Where does this edition come in the chronology, I wonder…
Johno, I'd just noticed there was a copy on ebay for not very much. Not sure if it's gone now but you might like to check. If it is gone, abebooks.com would be your best bet. Good luck.
Would you recommend it, Richard?
Might purchase that.

Thanks for the lowdown.
I appreciate the look and feel of books, just as much as their content, so the original would certainly hold more appeal.

I don't think I'm the person who inquired about this title before, but I'm interested in purchasing it.
