Wow, that takes me back to school. I went to Dartford Grammar - where Sir Michael of Jagger once went - so every single desk had "Mick woz ere" etched into it, no matter how old it was.
Ah, childhood. One of my friends' parents made this kind of writing into a neat guestbook: every visitor was allowed to carve their name and date in their living room sofa table made of oak. They've been at it for twenty something years now and got an interesting collection.
I liked the idea so much that I shamelessly copied it - when my table fills up I'm going to saw the legs of and put it on the wall.
