If you've been on board for long enough you'll remember I went out of my way to get a copy of Ken Garland's Graphics Handbook. It was well worth the effort. But, for some reason, it wasn't until I stumbled across Signs in action that I realised that it was part of a Studio Vista series. And of course, this realisation sent me off again, in search of others of it's kind. I very quickly found Trademarks and Basic design and have my eye on others. I'll blog each acquisition presently.
With contributions from the likes of Herbert Spencer and Mr Fletcher, Mr Forbes and Mr Gill, Signs is like FTF 60s-stylee and interestingness abounds with some "schockenly" contemporary type, misspeelings* and Russell Square spookiness.
* Intentional error (intenterror?)
*That's schocken.

Graphic Design: Visual Comparisons by Fletcher/Forbes/Gill from the same series is a must have part of the Studio Vista collection. Well worth hunting out a copy.

I am starting a collection of design books and specimen books. So far I have read the elements of typographic style, Grid systems by Brockmann, and Alber's interaction of color. can you suggest any others.
