Commemorative issue marking the re-structuring of Australia's Government-run postal and telecom services in 1975. The "P" motif is still in use today but sadly, the Telecom identity appears to have been replaced around 1994 by an unremarkable new design. Worse was to come with a name change and some turd polishing.
Please note: The opinions expressed here are based solely on shoddy and probably inaccurate research of dubious value.
An Australian agrees. :)

I miss the old Telecom logo. I'll catch a glimpse of it every now and again. But you're being too cruel to the new one. The new logo got great reception when it was presented (pardon the pun).
I bet you didn't notice that the P in the Australia Post logo is a postman's whistle.

I vaguely remember viewing footage of Trevor Flett from FHA talk about the Telstra redesign, among other projects, around that time. Even thought the new name has been ingrained into my psyche I still prefer the simplicity of the old orange logo.

Great looking Telecom logo and from a time in Australia's history where they still had some European influence. Unlike today with the USA in their pockets :/

yeah I like these too. I do miss the good ole Telecom logo, I have a weird really clear memory of when I was a kids of a Telecom post near our house (which was on a farm) I always liked it.
And the latest 2008 version of telstra is worse than the previous version? What are they doing?
I do like the name telstra over telecom though
